From an NBSC employee.  Many thanks.

The Crooks Foundation made a $500 gift to The James Simons Literacy Project.  This money will be used to buy books to send home with each child at end of term for summer reading and has greatly increased the opportunities for each child.  Many thanks from James Simons Elementary.

She donated $100 via PayPal.  Mrs. Livingston is going to use this money to buy books for the children to read over the summer when school closes at the end of the year.  Thank you very much.

Many people got in touch to see what other ways they could help, and to help the school directly.  The school has more needs than just this.  We hope there will be a final newspaper story about the distribution of the books, and the other needs and projects going on.  There are always ways you can help the school any time of year.

She donated 15 hardback books to the Literacy Project.  We appreciate your contribution very much.

Buist had a good basketball season.  Now that it is over  I am behind on acknowledgments and will try to catch that up, and will post photos when the books are distributed to the children the first week in March.  We think we have nearly 1,000 books, so the children will get books now, and will get books again to take home for summer reading.

Mrs. Chitty lives at Isle of Palms and belongs to two book clubs.  Every year they give Barnes & Noble gift cards to a charity and this year they picked The James Simons Literacy Project.  Mrs. Chitty's mother went to James Simons Elementary School when she was a little girl and she cares a lot about the school.  Together the two book clubs gave almost $200 in gift cards.  Thank you!

The members of this book club gave three bags of new books at Circular Church.  Thank you very much.  When I went to pick them up there were actually five bags of books, so thank you also to the members of Circular who brought the other two bags of books.  I wish I knew who you are so I could thank you personally.  And this is what five bags of books looks like.  The total count from Circular is 64 books.
